My Random Do Everything Day

Have I told you my life is crazy right now?  So what do I do? Start a blog.  But a girls just got to have fun too!

This past month both of my teenagers got jobs (Whoo-hoo for them!) .  My husband works a different shift every week, alternating between days and afternoons.  He works four 10-hour days with Fridays off.  My son is taking drivers ed and has class time or on-the-road almost everyday (sometimes twice in a day).  Did I mention we live 14 miles from town in one direction, and about the same from my son's work at a golf course in the opposite direction?  We only have two vehicles right now because my daughter's died last year.  Are you getting a visual of this?  Here, let me help:

I have become a taxi driver...seriously, I should put a sign on my van and start charging...I'd be rich.  My husband is working on a third vehicle.  He and his brother are putting a newer engine in an older truck.  We needed it yesterday a month ago!  Then my daughter can drive herself to work, and I will still have a car to get my son back and forth to work.  Next month should be tons better.  Drivers ed will be over and hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) we will have the truck.

Sometimes though, running the roads has its own reward.  Lookee what I found at a garage sale on my way back from dropping my daughter at work:

It has beautiful legs hidden in that drawer.  One broke off and needs repair.  I've been wanting a coffee table for a long time.  This one has lots of storage.  I'll be fixing her up soon.  This is a heavy, quality piece.  Cost me $20 smack-a-roos.  Can you give me a Hallelujah!?

And I found this.  It winds up...I love that.  I'm thinking of painting it heirloom white.  Whadda ya think?

Then I went to Walmart and got this...

because my old one was held together with duct tape and left half the dirt on the floor.  It was time.  May it's predecessor R.I.P.

So the rest of the afternoon has been spent vacuuming, sprucing up the place a little, decluttering and spray painting this:

It was your typical cheap brass-look fixture.  Eventually I want a nice chandelier to take it's place, but for now, it got some make-up.

Oh!  And I made this:

Banana Chocolate Chip bread.  Two loaves...one for us and one for my friend who drove for driver's ed twice today...and took my 10 year old son for the THIRD time this week to play with her twins.  She's a doll.  This is the first day I have only had one trip to town in about 2 weeks.  Man, I can get a lot done when I stay home!  And the day is still young!  But I better pace myself.  I'm helping another friend out tonight.  She needs another body to help with an Alzheimer's fund raiser from 10:00 - 2:00 a.m.  She says I can bring something to work on.  I wonder if spray paint would bother anyone???

  1. Love the coffee table! $20 is an amazing deal! And the clock is fabulous! It would look pretty painted HW and then sanded down to reveal some of the original color or no sand and glaze it! Can't wait to see it!
