Just Sick and Yet Thankful Too

This is what we saw as we drove up the driveway after a trip to town tonight.

I was just sick.  This was my absolute favorite tree on our whole 32 acres.  It was such a beautifully shaped round tree.  We think it was a Box Elder.  I used to sit under it on hot days with a cold drink, just enjoying it's shade.  I took pictures of our kids under it.  The kids climbed it and we had swings hanging from it.

Tonight I am sad.  But I am also thankful.  Less than 2 weeks ago we had Tyler's youth group here from the church.   They sat under this tree and talked and laughed.  They swung from the swings.  I thank God the limb did not fall on them.

  1. Sorry about your tree :( Thank goodness no one was hurt!

  2. That was a beautiful tree and I can understand why you are sad. Sounds like it held some great memories. I'm glad too that no one was hurt.

  3. I'm so sorry for your loss but also thankful, like you that nobody was hurt. We lost a huge tree two years ago that just missed falling on the house. The sound of the tree coming down was horrendous!

  4. So sorry about your beautiful tree, but also glad no one was hurt. Thank you for the lovely comment you left and good luck on the giveaway !!

  5. I'm so sorry about your tree. I know how precious a big, beautiful shade tree can be. We didn't have any on our property when we moved here six years ago, and we're still trying to grow our trees big enough to enjoy their shade. I'm glad no one was hurt, though. :)
Thanks so much for your sweet comment about my mudroom. It's very much appreciated. :)
    Take care,

  6. Hi there, I have just discovered your blog. I am so sorry about your tree but thank goodness no one was there playing. Take care Kym :)

  7. It just breaks my heart to see that beautiful old tree like that. So sorry. :(

  8. Oh, that would make me heartsick too - it looks as if it really was a gorgeous tree.

Thank you for taking time to leave me a comment. They make my day!
