There's was a whole lot of clucking going on here today. Yes, I brought the chickens home! At least I brought the broody hen and her babies home. We are giving them time to settle in tonight and tomorrow before bringing the two black Australorp pullets home, probably tomorrow.
I already learned something new about chickens. Did you know chickens can growl? I had no idea. Mama hen actually growled when I removed the blanket we'd thrown over the cage to transport them in. She was living up to Peggy's name for her...Grouchy. She was warning us not to mess with her babies!
This picture gives a pretty good overall view of the coop. It is only a little over 6' x 8', but it's perfect for a small flock.
Talk about a gawky teen! He (I think) was stretching his neck up to look at me through the window.
This is my favorite. Mom and chick touched beaks. It gives new meaning to giving a peck on the cheek!
Have a great week. Hugs and pecks!

Mama and young'uns are scoping out the new digs.
What do I spy with my little eye?
Hey look, it's our favorite food guys!
Nothing shy about this little lad. It's bottoms up in the feed pail for him!
They quickly made themselves at home.
Look ma! No hands!
This one cracks me up!
Have a great week. Hugs and pecks!
I've linked to these awesome parties!
Very cute. Love your coop.
ReplyDeleteYay, they look very happy in their new digs. Just think tomorrow you will give true meaning to the expression "all my chicks under one roof".
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteAww they're so adorable!! I keep telling my husband I want chickens, his answer "we have enough Dachshunds" lol. Someday!!
ReplyDeleteThey look so pretty and clucky, don't they?!And very happy little birds!
ReplyDeleteMay they have a long and productive life, and give you lovely eggs every single day!

Chickens make wonderful pets. They're pets with a purpose. You feed them and they feed you, eggs! What could be better?

ReplyDeleteI just knew I missed the homecoming! They are beautiful! How much fun will that be! Those chicks and mom sure have a nice home. Hugs, Lynn
ReplyDeleteI am SO jealous that you have chickens! I want chickens (and fresh eggs) so bad! Unfortunately, my HOA doesn't allow chickens. =)
