Starting a New Job - WWAW Will Return Next Week!

I started my new job today and will be working from 8:00 - 5:00 the next two days, then for the month of June I will be working 4:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday for the month of June. Rub your eyes and read that again!  Yes, I will be working in the wee hours of the morning.  I have never been a morning person, so this should be interesting.  This is only temporary hours as the entire store is being remodeled.  After that I will have more normal hours.

I apologize, but I just don't have time for the link-up this week.  I will return next week with the features from last week.  Hopefully I will adjust quickly and figure out how to work around my new schedule.  Have a great week my friends!

What We Accomplished Wednesday #16

Want to be a pin-up girl?  Join the party, and if you are featured, I'll pin your project to my Green Willow Pond Features Board!

It looks like our spring was a short lived one.  Last week was beautiful.  I dug out an entire 12 foot flower bed.  Lilac roots had invaded, and some of the perennials were staging a coup to take over the whole bed.  They got the ax...literally.  My hubby had to take an ax to the lilac roots.  Never fear, you can't kill those things.  This past few days has been miserably cold and wet again.  Tomorrow is supposed to be better...I sure hope so.

I tried starting a favorite rose from stem cuttings.  You can read about that here.  It's an interesting technique, that I'm curious to see if it works.

If you read my recent post about challenges, you know that my husband was laid off over two months ago.  Many responded with prayers and well wishes, that really lifted my spirits.  Ken is still laid off.  We are still praying he will be called back soon.

In an unexpected and sudden turn of events, I've been offered a part time job at our local JoAnn store.  I have not worked outside the home for many years, so I am a little nervous, and yet excited too.  It will nowhere near make up for what my husband made, but every little bit helps.  It will keep me busier though, so I may not be able to comment on all the link-ups every week anymore.  I will continue to host the party and do the features.  I get so much joy from seeing all your wonderful inspiration.

Now on to this weeks features.  The top clicked link this week was this bed and dresser redone by Freddie & Petunia. You have to see what she put on the top of the bed posts!

Some lucky chickens get to live in this adorable coop at Glass Slipper Restorations

Isn't the color and design of this end table just gorgeous!  This is just one of several that Susan of Sunflower Hugs repainted.

Kadee Willow painted this awesome wrapping paper herself, and if you are all thumbs at wrapping gifts, she gives a great tutorial to make it easier.

Who wouldn't want to stay in this guest room done by Celestina Marie Designs.  The problem would be getting guest to leave...I'd want to stay forever!

Picking the right type of Sharpie pen is crucial to a lasting design on dinnerware.  Terry, at Forever Decorating spills the beans on this one.

Need a desk organizer?  Check out how Denise on a Whim turned this crate into this pretty and unique organizer.

Will you be holding a yard sale this year?  Then don't miss this post packed with awesome tips to make it a successful sale.  Danielle, from Finding Silver Pennies, shares some tips here I'd never heard of!

Patti, at Old Things New, painted this sweet little table with a stenciled bird on a branch and pretty turquoise base.  Can you guess what it started out as?

Banana bread is a favorite at our house, especially if I throw in a handful of chocolate chips!  Diane, at An Extraordinary Day, claims this recipe is the best one ever.  This is a must try recipe for me!

Now, onward to this weeks party!   It's not a rule, but if you would like to follow me it always makes me smile :)

Pinteresting Monday - Propogating Roses

How was your Mother's Day?  I hope you had as nice a day as I did.  My family took me out to lunch at Applebees after church ...yum!  Then we went to visit Ken's mom and took her a hanging flower basket with a gorgeous fushia.  We went home for a couple of hours, I baked a crumb topped apple pie, which we took to my mom and dad's.  She got a pretty flower basket too.  We played four games of Euchre and ate too much pie.  (Mom had made a strawberry pie too!)

I received a beautiful new rose for Mother's Day this year.  It is a Cherish floribunda, which will bloom all summer.  It isn't blooming yet, but here's what the flowers will look like.

I can't wait to see it in full bloom!   Many years ago I received another beautiful rose bush, from my family, for Mother's Day.   Here is a picture of it from my back deck.  It is my favorite rose.

My daughter took these pictures of it and made a gorgeous framed collage for me a few years ago.  I just love it!

I've always wanted more of them, but haven't seen them for sale around here anymore.  I decided to try my hand a propogating a couple from mine, and found this idea on Pinterest.

For now I just tried two stems, cut from the same branch.  If they don't succeed, I'll wait until fall to try again.  I imagine I will have to protect them from our zone 4/5 winter as they aren't grafted onto a hardy root stock.

So what Pinteresting thing have you done lately?

What We Accomplished Wednesday #15

Want to be a pin-up girl?  Join the party, and if you are featured, I'll pin your project to my Green Willow Pond Features Board!

It's been a busy and challenging week.   We traveled downstate to watch Jamie walk for graduation two weekends ago.  We had her home from college last week. She has one more summer class to take so she is back at college until July 4th weekend.

We also celebrated my niece at her wedding shower this past weekend. She is a radiant bride-to-be!
I didn't post a Pinteresting Monday yesterday, so I'm sharing one today.  I start seeds 4-5 weeks before planting date here in northern Michigan.  I actually did this last year and it worked really well.  I can create a greenhouse on cooler days by keeping the lid closed, open it on warmer days, and bring the whole chabang inside on cold days or nights.  I bought the containers at Walmart for about $5.00 last year.

To water, I remove one cup and pour water into the bottom of the container.  This way I only have to water every day or two.  I keep them in the shade until they have true leaves, then move them to dappled shade, then gradually start exposing them to full sun for about half an hour the first day, and gradually extending that time over the next couple of weeks. When I'm through with them, I can store my garden supplies in them.

Now on to the features from last weeks party!  This weeks most clicked link was this adorable trailer, shared at Penny's Treasures.  I so want a little trailer to decorate and use as a summer guest cottage.

Kyra, from Chateau Revivals, shared this beautiful dresser refinish.  I love the mix of white paint and stained wood!

Check out this lace screen that Lynn, from Shabby Story, assembled.  I love the oval frame and jar of flowers she added to it too!  She also made a beautiful slipcover with ruffle.

I love the pretty shade of blue that Angela, at My Place 4 Tea, custom mixed to paint this awesome coffee table with a surprise.  You'll have to check it out to find out what that is.

I did not know you could transfer images with paint. Sumaya, at Evocative Vintage, shows how she used paint to transfer images on these cute pails.

Mindi, from My Love 2 Create, used a vintage divided box as her pattern, and created more boxes.  Aren't they awesome?

How fun are these covered beaded push pins from Ellya, of Curiositaellya

Spring has sprung and Karen, at Somewhat Quirky Design, has embraced it with her beautiful white with moss mantle.

This armoire from Biljana Shabby, took my breath away!  I just love how she finished it.

This sweet little pincushion was created by Andrea, at The Simple Craft Diaries.  Love the mason jar.  You could keep your thimble and tiny scissors store inside!

I can't wait to try this Oven Barbeque Chicken posted by Nici, at Posed Perfection.  It looks so moist and yummy!

Bonus Feature!
Have you ever wondered how to put a fancy design and title on your pictures?  Jenna from Rain on a Tin Roof, gives an excellent tutorial about how to do it in picmonkey. Make your pictures pin worthy!

Now, onward to this weeks party!  I am so ready to party!!  It's not a rule, but if you would like to follow me it always makes me smile, plus I will follow you to if you let me know :)

Challenges

I am sorry this is not a pretty post, with pretty things to look at, but I just really need some prayers.  If you are not a praying person, just close this window and know that I won't love you any less.

I am facing challenges.  Sometimes challenge is a good thing, like a difficult situation that makes you stronger, better or broadens your horizons.  Other challenges drain you, threaten to change your world in a bad way.

One of the challenges we are facing is unemployment.  My hubby has been laid off for two months.  We had no doubt that he would be called back when things picked up.  He is a dependable, hard worker with one of the strongest work ethics I've ever seen.  But as time has gone on, fear has started to creep in.  We are both believers, who have watched God work over and over again to provide for us, and we have seen it again in this situation.

I have been calm throughout, knowing God will take care of us.  But the enemy is working.  I've been experiencing brief periods of fear and hopelessness.  They are fleeting.  I recognize the enemy's attempts.   I stand on God's promises for those who follow him.  But I could certainly use your prayers.

Another challenge rocked my world today.  It isn't something I can share, but it involves a deep hurt that effected myself and many others.  If what I don't want to have happen, does, I already know what I must do, but it will be extremely painful.  I've run the gamut of emotions today, from shock, disbelief, anger so deep it made me shake, and now depression.  Again, I have to rely on the Lord, that he will take care of this.  I would so appreciate your prayers this next couple of weeks.

God bless you my dear readers.  You are all precious to me.
