How Pinteresting Monday: Craft Room Storage Boxes

In the heat of the moment, when I decided to hold Pinterest Inspired Mondays, I didn't really take the time to think of a better name for it.  Can you say borrrring?  Yawn!  After giving it some brain cells...though not too many, I've decided to call it...drum roll please:  "How Pinteresting Monday."  Oh stop yawning already.  At least it's better...crickets chirping...right?

After two days of recouping from overdoing it and an attack of vertigo, I am slowly getting back on my feet again.  By Friday, the vertigo was just about gone.  I was still not ready for a big project, but I did sit at the table in my craft room and cover some shoe boxes with newspaper for some pretty storage containers.

After seeing this on Pinterest:

I started to cover these Converse boxes, then put the mod podge brush down and took a better look.  They didn't need anything!  I love the black and kraft color, as well as the cool graphics.

Wish all my projects were that easy!  They are also a gentle reminder to not to spend too much time in my basement craft room.  (I could totally live here!) I still need to take time to con-verse' with my family!!

These boxes will sit on my new shelves holding lots and lots of craft supplies from spilling all over the shelf and onto the floor!  I love the look, the storage, and the fact that it cost me nothing.  Talk about frugal!

To add the little cardboard tags onto the Converse boxes was simple.  I wove twine through these little holes (already in the box) like so:

Up from the back, fed through holes punched into the cardboard, and back down through the holes in the box.  Do this on both sides.

Then pull the ends tight inside the box, making sure your tag is centered in front.

Tie into a knot and trim the ends inside the box.  How's that for a simple, fast tutorial!

All that's left is to label the boxes.  I had a little fun in Picmonkey.

I think I'll keep Whazits instead of Miscellaneous.  So much more fun don't you think?  How Pinteresting!

Until next time, keep craftin' and smilin'...

  11. What are the label holders called if I were to try to buy them? I'm in the UK, so a generic name rather than a trade name would be great!

    1. They were some in my scrapbook stash. I believe they were just called label holders. They are similar to these:

You can find them in most scrapbook/craft stores, or possibly an office supply store. I attached them with silver brads, also available at either place above.
