What We Accomplished #72

Want to be a pin-up girl? Join the party, and if you are featured, I'll pin your project to my Green Willow Pond Features Board!

I have not had time to get any projects done around here. Taxes and business have kept me pretty busy. I am happy to say my Etsy business is picking up. I've been busy sewing aprons and dreaming up new product ideas. Here's some of my newest creations.

I've also spent a lot of time just trying to keep warm! If you live where it is reasonably warm year round, you can't imagine what 40 below zero wind chill feels like. That is what we've been experiencing here in the northern regions. That is COLD! With the wind blowing so fiercely, it has been hard to keep the house warm, even with a wood furnace. We have been shoveling huge amounts of wood into it's hungry belly for days. I go around with layers of clothing on and my robe on top of it! When I sit working in my chair, I'm covered in my thick fleece tie blanket up to my eyeballs. You should see me when a hot flash happens.  Clothes and blankets go flying!

My hubby has been working on a several projects this cold winter.  He installed new risers and steps on the basement stairs. He still has to add beadboard to the top portion of the walls, and a ledge along the point where the walls meet unevenly. There is one shelf under the stairs, but I may add serveral more for more storage.

When it warms up this spring, I will paint the new stairs and walls. Right now it is dark and unfinished, but some white paint will do wonders! Keep in mind, our basement is a service style basement, not a living area. It is divided up into storage area, wood furnace and wood storage, food storage area, and my still unfinished craft room.

He also added a wall on the right side of the stairs and built another storage shelf in the food storage area.  Oh and he wired my craft room so now I can just flip a switch to turn on the lights! Before, I had to walk to the middle of the room and pull one of those string lights. This week or next he also plans to install a new on-demand water heater to replace our old gas guzzling tank. Love it when that guy is in project mode!

There were some other busy beavers this month. Just look at these amazing projects!

Jen, of Noting Grace, showed her awesome kitchen remodel. Love all the light bouncing white and fresh farmhouse look!

I love this sweet little chive wreath that Alexandra, of My Piece of Vintage Prairie, created. Her pictures are stunning too!

There is a brick chimney hidden underneath wood slats and drywall in our living area. I've thought about tearing all that off and painting the bricks white. Deb, from Seeking Lavender Lane, may have given me the push I need with this amazing faux brick chimney she and her hubby created.

Paula, from Ivy and Elephants, transformed the inside of an antique armoire in their bedroom. Isn't it gorgeous? I love the functionality of if too.

Biljana, from Biljana Shabby, always makes such sweet plaques and other pretties. These little plaques are beautiful and would make such pretty door signs.
Mary Beth, from Mary Beth's Place, took a really run down cabinet and brought it back to life. Check out the beautiful transformation!

Fabby, of Fabby's Living, has a beautiful dining area, with some amazing furniture pieces. This gorgeous antique Belgium buffet took my breath away.

Simple and sweet, this rose heart wreath, by Surroundings by Deb, is the perfect shabby chic valentine wreath.

There is nothing like a hot casserole to warm you up on a cold, blustery day. This version of  chicken casserole is similar to one I make, but steps it up a couple of notches with the addition of chow mein noodles and chopped almonds. Yum! Find the recipe by Pattie, at Olla Podrida.

Marie Alison is a young lady who cooks for her family of ten...2 sisters, 5 brothers and her parents. She shares amazing recipes and is a very articulate blogger at Ten at the Table. You must visit her and check out her awesome recipes, including this freezer friendly, homemade pizza crust!

What We Accomplished Wednesday #71

Want to be a pin-up girl? Join the party, and if you are featured, I'll pin your project to my Green Willow Pond Features Board!

If you have an online shop of any kind, you might be interested in exploring Work Your Art. Debbie asked me to give an interview for her readers. You can sign up for her free emails with great tips for your business. She also has a paid subscription with access to more in depth guides and templates. So far I am enjoying the free tips, but may soon sign up for the paid subscription. You can read my interview here if you like.

It's that time again! Time to share all the awesome things you've accomplished. There were some pretty awesome projects last week.

There are so many pretty winter decor ideas at  Finch Rest. Michele has a beautiful home!

I think I have a thing for hot cocoa bars. This one by Tammy at One More Time Events, is made to be portable and you won't believe what she used to create it!

I might also have a thing for chalkboards. I'm loving this map concept by Cindy at DIY Beautify!

Patti, at Old Things New, didn't want to block the gorgeous view she has out of her kitchen window. I love the swag treatment she came up with to dress up the window without obscuring that view!

Deb, at Seeking Lavender Lane, found an old dresser with peeling veneer. She removed the veneer and painted with DIY chalk paint. I love the details!

This is such a pretty distressing technique that Lynda, from Lynda Bergman Design Artisan, created using two colors of paint and a stain.

I love me a farmhouse porch! This vintage inspired porch by Julie, of Little Farmstead, is so charming!

The thought of waxing all the intricate details of a chair has kept me from attempting it. Well, no more! Mary, from Orphans With Makeup, shares a video of her easy technique for waxing chairs. You are going to love this!

If you are looking for a sweet little touch for Valentines day, without going over the top, check out these pretty dangling beaded heart ornaments by Diane, from An Extraordinary Day.

It's been a while since I've made a smoothy.  This strawberry pina colada recipe (non alcoholic) by Margaret Anne at Natural Chow, has me searching for strawberries in my freezer!
