The Big Bang, Big News, My Anniversary and My First Giveaway

It's been awhile...hanging my head in shame.  This has been a whirlwind month.  We started it out with a bang!  Coming home from picking up Jamie from college, we were about 30 minutes from home when a deer leaped in front of us.  I was relaxing with my eyes closed, not yet asleep, when suddenly there was a terrible bang and I was covered in glass...and I mean you couldn't see my lap for the glass.

Thank God no one was hurt, although we were pretty shook up.  It hit so hard that the hood was molded to the motor and my side of the windshield was caved in.  Everyone thought the deer was going to come through the windshield on me.  God was protecting me that day!  The van was totaled, but we bought it back and had it repaired.  Ken had just put $600 into it and it still runs great.  I fielded insurance and body shop calls for two weeks.  His work car died at about the same time, so we've been playing musical cars too.

Then it's been doctor appointments for the last two weeks.  Between that and therapy I've been on the run.  I have good news and bad news about my shoulder.  The good news is I won't need surgery, unless therapy doesn't help.  I have a frozen shoulder with a tiny tendon tear and some bursitis.  Basically, scar tissue has formed so I am doing special exercises 2-3 times a day, with once a week therapy sessions.  It can take up to 18 months to get back to normal, and some never do without surgery.  My therapist is encouraged with my progress and thinks I will get my range of motion back much sooner.

My daughter Jamie's big news is that she got a research scholarship and will be leaving in two weekends to go back down to school for 10 weeks.  It is bittersweet.  We will miss having her here this summer, but it is a great opportunity for her.  We did get her for a month, so I've been spending extra time doing things with her (another reason I haven't blogged).  She will get to come home for a couple of weeks in August before returning for fall semester.

Finally my big news is that I opened my Etsy store less than two weeks ago and have had 2 sales already!  There's a link at the top of my side bar if you want to take a look.  And it's just past my blogs two year anniversary.  So to celebrate, I am giving away a gift certificate to my shop for $30!    I am adding more things this coming week, as it is finally slowing down and I don't have to run all over creation next week.  Here is a peek at a few items in the store.

Craft Room Update : The Floor Is Done!

If you missed previous craft room updates, the links to all are at the bottom of this post.

Before I show you my floor, I'd like to thank three ladies for featuring  a couple of my projects.  Thank you Karen, aka Good Time Charlie, at Redoux and Betsy at Romance on a Dime for featuring my Galvanized Tins.  Also thank you to Craft Gossip for featuring my Subway Cross.  I still get giddy every time someone features something I made!!

Sorry I've gone missing for a couple of weeks.  A lot has been going on, but not much to blog about.  Hubby has been on and off work the past few weeks.  He was back the last two weeks, thus finishing of the wall framing in the craft room has been delayed.

I could do it if it weren't for this darn shoulder.  My MRI is scheduled for the 10th and I return to the doctor on the 16th.  Thank you to all who have sent me sweet messages asking how I am doing.  I've learned to work around it for most things, and can still do a lot with my right arm, just no reaching out to the side or very far above my head.

In the meantime, the garden took priority for a bit.  I wanted to move our raspberry patch out of the garden and into it's own patch.  With hubby's help we accomplished that.  This picture only shows two rows.  We've since added a third row.

I also planted a LOT of these cups with seeds.  Our last frost isn't until end of May, so we have to get a head start indoors.  I did plant some snow peas outside yesterday. and harvested some green onions from last year.

Between all of that, my doctor and therapy appointments, as well as spending a weekend downstate to pack up Jamie and bring her home from college, not much progress has been made on the craft room.  I did finish painting the floor today though.  I really like the way it turned out.  I was going for an aged, worn look.

There will be cupboards and work areas lining all three walls.  I plan to frame in that pipe and perhaps make it look like a column.

I still have a long way to go, but it's looking more and more the way I want it to.  I'm hoping hubby can help me add beadboard to the stair side of the long wall in the next day or two...and maybe get the framing finished too.  Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
